Create a Rainbow Spectrum Ribbon Effect in Illustrator – Use Lines & Blends for Abstract Light Shapes

I love this video here on Youtube for making this ribbon effect: http://youtu.be/Uvr1Tr7gONA the problem is that it is hard to follow as there is no captioning and Juli Rose goes a bit fast for beginner Illustrator users to follow along.

So, I borrowed her effect and reproduced it in Illustrator so you can learn to do this. What you will do is to use the pencil tool (or you can use the pen tool if you prefer) to make a series of overlapping lines. Then use the Blend Tool to blend the lines together into a ribbon which you can then add a gradient to. Shape the lines any way you want to get this beautiful result.
