Tip Of The Day 036 – How To Change The Text In The Comp From The Comp Name in After Effects

I forgot to mention this in the tutorial. If you want for it to work when you duplicate the comp, you have to do the following. Change the compName variable to compName = thisComp.name. That will do the trick.

//EXPRESSION ONE
compName = thisComp.name; //Be sure to use thisComp.name if you’re planning on duplicating the comp
compName.substring(0, compName.indexOf(“,”))

//EXPRESSION TWO
compName = thisComp.name; //Be sure to use thisComp.name if you’re planning on duplicating the comp
compName.substring(compName.indexOf(“,”)+2)
